Care and use of your Victor Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Cookware

  • The Victor Cast-Iron cookware range is already pre-seasoned and ready to use. Like Grandma’s black iron cookware they continue to get better (and more non-stick) the more they are used.
  • The pans have already been pre-treated with vegetable oil and high heat, they are ready to use. You do not need to season the surface.
  • Before the pan is used for the first time, rinse well with HOT tap water and dry thoroughly.
  • When cooking with oils or fats (which is normally the case with frying pans and grill pans) the surface of each item is being re-seasoned naturally during the cooking process. In fact the more the product is used the better it becomes. If the cookware is used for water cooking eg. Pasta or potatoes, add sever drops for vegetable or olive oil to the cooking water. This will automatically maintain the natural black appearance of the pan.
  • Always use oven gloves when lifting a hot pan with metal handles because cast iron distributes heat evenly and quickly, this allows you to cook with lower temperatures and the food is cooked evenly. However your cast iron pan will take excessive heat – no worries about cracking, peeling or crazing.
  • Flat double thick bottoms are perfect for all types of cooking surfaces or ovens (except microwave). Suitable for induction, but be careful if using on a ceramic hob.
  • After cooking, scrub the pan (whilst still warm) with HOT tap water and dry immediately. The next time the pan is used you may wish to wipe a little cooking oil on the surface. Then cook and enjoy.
  • Do not used soap or put in the dishwasher. For burned or stubborn food spots scour with table salt and cooking oil. Rinse throughly with hot water.
